# WIND

> WIND (also "WIND Launcher", formerly "CloudClient") is a free, all-in-one launcher for Minecraft: Java Edition on Windows. It installs mods, modpacks, resource packs and shaders from Modrinth and CurseForge, lets friends join each other's worlds peer-to-peer without a server, hosts Minecraft servers on your PC that can go public through a WIND Tunnel, and includes a skin editor and skin creator. Its companion mod WindUI is a lightweight frosted-glass UI and HUD mod. No ads, no paywalled features.

## Key facts

- WIND is a launcher, not a client. It launches regular Minecraft: Java Edition with Fabric, Forge or NeoForge (or vanilla).
- Platform: Windows. Requires a Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition.
- Price: free. There are no ads and there never will be. No feature is locked behind a paywall.
- Content sources: Modrinth and CurseForge (mods and modpacks), Modrinth (resource packs, shaders, server plugins, datapacks).
- Friends menu (in the launcher and in WindUI): online status, direct and group chat, invites, modpack sharing, notifications.
- World sharing: friends join your singleplayer world through a direct peer-to-peer connection. No server, nothing uploaded.
- Server hosting (beta): Vanilla, Paper, Spigot, Fabric, Forge or NeoForge servers on your own PC. Public access through a WIND Tunnel with a custom `<name>.play.windlauncher.com` address, or port forwarding (UPnP, NAT-PMP or manual). Plugins, mods and datapacks install from Modrinth. Includes console, game rules, whitelist, backups and scheduled restarts. The server is online while the PC is on.
- Skins: live 3D preview, look up any player and try on or save their skin, cape switching, and a built-in skin creator to paint skins from scratch.
- Crash assistant: explains crashes and suggests one-click fixes. Crash logs are analyzed with Google Gemini.
- WindUI: in-game UI/HUD mod with real frosted-glass blur, HUD modules, minimap, waypoints, Auto Walk, PvP indicators, held light, custom inventories and more. It is lightweight and resource-friendly; it is NOT an FPS booster. Available for Fabric on Minecraft 1.21+ including the latest snapshots. NeoForge and a 1.20.1 Forge/NeoForge version are coming soon. Compatible with Sodium, Iris and VulkanMod.

- WIND+ (planned €4.99/month): 24/7 cloud server with 2 GB RAM, a custom cape (own image or GIF), a new in-game badge color.
- WIND++ (planned €14.99/month): 24/7 cloud server with up to 6 GB RAM and a faster CPU, custom cape and custom wings, an exclusive name badge.
- Cosmetics store. Subscriptions add cosmetics and cloud hosting only; they never unlock launcher features.
